Abstract: The history of Chinese traditional clothing handicraft and the impact exerted on it by the industrialized production are discussed.It argues that to suit the characteristics of industrialized production of ready-made clothing and find application in the design of modern ready-made clothing,the traditional clothing handicraft has to embark on the path of development and innovation,combining with the modern international fashion.And explanatory examples are given by listing three kinds of the most typical clothing handicraft,namely embroidery,decorative hemming and making Chinese frog.
