Abstract: In order to find out the skirt appearance shape change rules with fabric property and garment construction parameters,two fabrics with obviously different properties were selected.Influences of garment construction parameters,such as the number of skirt pieces and the skirt length,on the bell skirt appearance shape were studied through experiments.The results show that the bell skirt made of rigid fabric has wider skirt hem,bigger skirt hem angle,symmetrical and conspicuous skirt hem ripple compared with that of soft fabric.With skirt length lessening,the skirt hem angle of the bell skirt becomes wider obviously and the ripple more even,ripple shape changes gradually into flat and unnoticeable.However,increasing the number of skirt pieces,the ripple of the bell skirt becomes more and more even,especially with soft fabrics.
