Abstract: Lujin(Shandong brocade) has strong local folk artistic characteristics, and its pattern is one of the representations. The application of Lujin patterns in fashion design with several different design methods was attempted through analyzing the geometric check pattern of Lujin and extracting its essence. The practice has shown that the direct application method is easy to mastered and fully express the strong folk characteristic. However, the design betrays itself by the trace of “clip and paste”. The indirect application method is a more ideal one which can create new patterns out of the old, better express the principle of modern design, and better cater up the aesthetic demand of the fashion of customers.
