Abstract: The crease-proof finishing of cotton fabrics with phosphino polycarboxylic acids such as phosphino butanetetra carboxylic acid (PBTCA),phosphino polymaleic acid (PPMA),and phosphonanted hydrolytic polymaleic anhydride(PHPMA) were investigated. The effects of concentration of finishes, the type and concentration of catalysts and additives, curing temperature and duration on the characteristics of cotton fabrics were discussed. The results show that the three kinds of phosphino polycarboxylic acids above have rendered cotton fabrics good crease-proofing property,of them,PBTCA is the best. And addition of triethyl amine to the finishing agent can improve the extent of crosslinking, strength, and whiteness of cotton fabrics.
