Abstract: Coat-hanger die is usually used as the polymer melt distributor of the melt-blown nonwoven system. The design of the coat-hanger die is of significant importance for the polymer melt distribution across the die and the quality of the final product. The two-dimensional finite element method is used to simulate the flow of the polymer fluid in the coat-hanger die of melt-blown nonwoven process. The effects of the geometrical parameters of the die and the property of the polymer fluid on the flow distribution at the outlet are studied. The results indicate that the flow distribution at the outlet is improved with the increase of the manifold angle and the land height. And the flow distribution at the outlet depends on the power-law index.Whether the power-law index increases or decreases, the flow distribution at the die outlet tends to deteriorate.
