Abstract: Applying orthogonal design method,a new-type acrylate sizing agent was synthesized from acrylic acid, ethyl acrylate,n-butyl acrylate and methacrylate, which was fit for sizing cotton/ polyester blended yarns for the purpose of substitution of it for PVA size. The effect of the initiator dosage and the mixing ratio of emulsifying agent on the polymerization stability and of monomers on the sizing performance were investigated through testing in combination with analysis of variance. The sizing performance characteristics of several kinds of acrylate sizing agents were analyzed and compared. The results show that the synthesized acrylate sizing agent is one with low hygroscopicity and low re-adhesion.
