Abstract: This paper made a brief review on the water and oil repellent treatment of wool fabric and its mechanism.Using a novel crosslinking agent WR 40 and Advanproof WRC-LT,a new process was developed, which was suitable for low temperature crosslinking finish of wool for water and oil repellency. The optimum process conditions were determined by experiments, and through comparative study of the results,it is considered using this new process as a substitute for the traditional one of high temperature curing for water and oil repellent finish of wool to render it durable water and oil repellency and soil resistance. It is energy saving and worthy for promotion of use.
