Abstract: This paper subdivided Shanghai style of garments into two inheritance components and defined the concept old shanghai style of garments as those in modern times and new Shanghai style of garments as those from the beginning of the reform and opening up according to the history and the characters of Shanghai style of garments.The old Shanghai style is based on the character of the complete westernized style and the mixed style with the western and Chinese traditional elements,which is originated from the communication of Chinese traditional garments and western garments.The character of new Shanghai style of garments is the coexistence of many fashion styles,which is originated from various communications of international modern garments.
