Abstract: For protecting and developing the Chinese blue calico technology, technological innovation should be made so as to meet the developing trends on today’s textile market. Therefore, it has positve significance to reevaluate the advantages and unique features of Chinese blue calico. Introducing the happening color into the innovative concept, this paper elucidates the innovative design in terms of indigotin, printing, pattern and fabric, pointing out that the vivid and personified happening color is an effective tool to change the traditional style of Chinese blue calico and enhance its competitive power on the marlet. The advantages and drawbacks of the traditional manual printing of Chinese blue calico are discussed, along with the features of its color, process, design and material.
