Abstract:

The structures and properties of two types of copolyacrylonitrile prepared with different second monomers which are methyl acrylate and vinyl acetate were tested by FT-IR, DSC, TG and DMA techniques. The dyeabilities were also studied. The DSC results show that the glass transition temperature of copolyacrylonitrile whose second monomers prepared with vinyl acetate (I) is lower than that of copolyacrylonitrile with methyl acrylate as the second monomers (II). TG tests show that the decomposition temperatures of the two are very much alike，which are over 300℃ and their thermal stabilities exhibit little difference. The dyeing behavior of I is better than II under the same conditions.
