Abstract: With a view to investigating aroma retaining effect of the fabrics finished by aroma microcapsule, three woven fabrics and three knitted fabrics, having similar characteristics and commonly used in apparel manufacturing, were chosen and finished with aroma microcapsule and pure fragrance respectively. And the aroma retaining effect of the fabric under natural store or after washing was tested. The result shows that when naturally stored, the aroma retaining time of the fabrics finished by aroma microcapsule solution is five times longer than that of the fabrics finished by pure fragrance solution; after being washed, the aroma retaining time of the former is three times longer than the latter; and the aroma retaining time of the knitted fabrics is a little longer than that of the woven fabrics. In addition, the morphology of the fiber material, the diameter and configuration of the yarn, the structure and density of fabric can all affect aroma absorbing capability and retaining effect of the fabrics to some extent.
