Abstract: To give theoretical basis for the application of poly(ether-ether-ketone)(PEEK)fabric, the flame-retardant properties of PEEK fabric was studied by vertical flammability test, smoke density test and cone calorimeter test, and the morphology of the combustion residue of PEEK fabric was examined by scanning electron microscope (SEM). The results showed that PEEK fabric was difficult to ignite. Once burning, the flame spreaded slowly with the largest smoke density 2.06. Unde the heat radiate intensity 75 kW/m2, the maximum heat release rate was 183 kW/m2, and the maximum proportion of poisonous gas CO was 9×10-6 mL/mL, and little smoke and poisonous gas release. The combustion residue of PEEK fabric is rather compactive.
