Abstract: In order to evaluate the shape retention law of fabric under actual dressing states, a new type shape retention testing method of fabric is designed. The fabric is clingy to cylindroid under a certain pressure for 16 hours, then the pressure is unloaded and the standing time of fabric is 5 minutes. shape retention of fabric is evaluated with image. As for the shape retention law of fabrics, The shape retention performance of 45 pieces fabric were tested and analysed. The conclusion showes that the fabric with a higher density is the worse shape retention performances; The fabric structure takes secondary effect to shape retention performances, the shape retention performances of satin fabric is best, the tabby fabric is worst, and the twill fabric is placed in the middle.
