Abstract: According to the Aden - Kerker theory, the scattering properties of spherical hollow particles were studied in this paper. By using Matlab program, the visible extinction performance of the spherical hollow particles was numerical simulated and analyzed in details .The influences of outer refractive index, scale parameter and wall thickness on extinction performance were studied .The results showed that with the increase of outer relative refractive index, the extinction performance first decreased and then improved; with the increase of particle size parameter, the extinction coefficient presented up and down shocks with a series of maximum values and minimum values, and then the amplitudes weakened near to the number 2 ; With the decrease of wall thickness, the extinction performance first increased and then decreased .Using different combinations of particle diameter and wall thickness , a specific extinction effect could be achieved with better extinction performance generally than solid particles in practical application.
