Abstract: Surface morphology and thermodynamic performances of solution and melt electrospinning fibers and industrial melt spinning fibers were characterized and analysed by scanning electron microscopy (SEM), atomic force microscope (AFM) and differential scanning calorimetry (DSC). The results indicated that surface morphology is different in products owing to different processing methods. Melt electrospinning fibers have smooth surface, while there are distinct concave-convex on the surface of industrial melt spinning fibers, and slight alveolate shape on that of solution electrospinning fibers. According to the analysis of DSC, different spinning methods did not have significant effects on the glass transition temperature, crystallization temperature and melting temperature of fibers. The crystallinity and crystal integrality of melt electrospinning fibers made in laboratory were lower than that of melt spinning fibers made in factory, and solution electrospinning fibers are mostly in amorphous structure.
