Abstract: To improve the removal of non-cellulose impurities in cotton bio-scouring, effect of temperature on the catalytic efficiency of enzymes was investigated. It was found that temperature had great effects on the enzyme catalytic efficiency with in a certain scope of treatment temperature in cotton bio-scouring. The temperature for the best enzyme catalytic efficiency is much higher than the optimum temperature for cotton bio-scouring. Based on the analysis of the effects of temperature on the cellulase adsorption onto the cotton, of the melting points of the cotton waxes, and of the effects of the waxes on the removal of cotton seed coats for cellulase, the mechanism of temperature affecting enzyme catalytic efficiency in cotton bio-scouring was proposed.
