Abstract: Based on shielding theory of electromagnetic wave, a new device -shield box- was designed to test electromagnetic shielding effectiveness of polyamide 6 (PA6) fabric treated on the surface by electroless silver plating. The results indicated that the distance between emitter and person could be simulated by the distance between the transmitting antenna and shielding material; the fabric shielding effectiveness increased with the increased rate of mass gain at the beginning, then did not change any more when the rate continuously increased, which meant that test data can directly showed the change of fabric performance. Shielding box meathod with good testing repeatability was cost saving and effective to evaluate fabric shielding effectiveness.
