Performance evaluation of novel thermo color-change and energy-storage materials

Abstract: The self-made thermo color-change and energy-storage materials were finished onto the fabric with waterborne polyurethane(PU) by conventional coating method. The main processing conditions such as curing temperature, curing time and coating weighy were studied. When the curing temperature was 140°C, curing time was 3 min and coating weight was 50 g/m, the good discoloration performance and nice energy-storage property of the fabric treated with thermo color-change and energy-storage materials were obtained. Images of scanning electron microscopy (SEM) tests showed the thermo color-change and energy-storage materials were fixed firmly on the fabric, which ensured the durability of the performance of treated fabric. The DSC test of the treated fabric demonstrated obvious thermoregulatory performance, with the initial phase change temperature 32.5°C, enthalpy up to 7.388J/g, and thermoregulatory value up to 1137.752J/m2.
