Abstract: PHBV is a well-known biodegradable and biocompatible polyester synthesized by microorganisms. Electrospinning technique promotes the development of nano-fibers with high surface area-to-volume ratio, multi-scale and multi-dimension. And it can also carry out the control of morphology, pore diameter, porosity and mechanical strength for PHBV fibers. Combining with the research progress of electrospinning for PHBV, this paper reviews the advances of equipment design, morphology control and mechanical properties regulation in the respect of PHBV fiber formation in recent years. Moreover, this paper introduces the application of PHBV in the field of environmental protection and biological medicine such as tissue engineering, drug sustained release and so on. Finally, the future research of electrun PHBV fibers were also presented.
