Abstract:
The surface morphology, chemical composition, supra-molecular structure, thermal stability and moisture regain and thermal property of a new fine-denier profiled acrylic fiber are investigated. Meanwhile, the influence of sodium hydroxide, concentrated sulfuric acid, organic solvent and hydrogen peroxide, sodium hydrosulfite on the whiteness and mechanical properties of fiber is researched. The results show that the cross-section of this new fiber is dumb-bell-shaped and the surface is smooth in longitudinal fibril structure without any grooves. The fine properties of ordinary acrylic such as stable thermal performance are maintained. Meanwhile it is resistant to acid, alkali, ordinary organic solvents, and some reducing agent and oxidants. Other performance such as moisture regain and insulation performance are superior to these of ordinary acrylic. It has characteristic functional groups of ordinary acrylic, so it can be dyed by cationic dyes.
