Exploration on culture of Anhui Chizhou Nuo opera costumes

Abstract:

This paper focus on Anhui Chizhou Nuo opera costumes, and through field investigate and in-kind research, analyze the composition of Chizhou Nuo opera costumes as well as characteristics and functions thereof in the Nuo culture. By interpretation of apparel external symbols, it explore the hidden costumes cultural connotations. Chizhou Nuo opera costumes inherited Chinese traditional costumes shape, and are the ideographic symbol of Nuo culture; Nuo opera masks influence by folk beliefs, with the typical geographical and cultural characteristics the mask shape affected by Buddhist culture in Chizhou area; Chizhou Nuo opera costumes are simple and natural, and convey aesthetic sense of Chizhou villagers; and clothing colors and patterns express happiness and propitious willingness, which built the core values of Nuo culture.
