Abstract:
The manual measurement of knitted fabric’s density was time-consuming and discontinuous and the offline measurement cannot satisfy with the demand for controlling the knitted fabric’s density online. So, a method that knitted fabric’s density is obtained based on spatial domain image is proposed. The yarns presented knitted fabric’s horizontal density are extracted based on the feature of texture in binary image, then the number of knitted fabric’s horizontal yarns in image is obtained by applying modified Hough transform. Then every row’s coils in horizontal direction are extracted according the horizontal yarns. The normal coil-span is obtained through kernel density estimation to coil-span’s statistic, then the mean number of coils in horizontal direction can be calculated. The density of knitted fabric is obtained based on the data. The result of experiment shows that this method is effective.
