Abstract:
Photografting of acrylamide (AM ) and butyl acrylate (BA) onto PET/PA6 bicomponent spunbonded spunlaced nonwovens applied in wiping field was conducted with benzophenone (BP) as photoinitiator, AM as hydrophilic monomers and BA as oleophilic monomers in order to improve its hydrophilic-lipophilic properties. The PET/PA6 nonwovens before and after photografting were observed by scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and characterized by Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR), X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), water absorbency, oil absorbency and softness. The successful grafting of AM and BA on PET/PA6 bicomponent spunbonded spunlaced nonwovens was confirmed. Properties such as hydrophilic, oleophilic and softness would rise with the increase of the grafting rate before they were reduced. It showed 39.25% increase in water absorption, 73.58% increase in oil absorption and the softness of the PET/PA6 nonwovens after grafting is good when the grafting rate was 18.32%.
