Abstract: Spinning solution was prepared with collagen and PVA blending by addition of glutaraldehyde as cross2linker. CollagenPPVA composite as2formed fiber could be produced via wet spinning. After heat drawing , heat setting , and acetalization , the collagenPPVA composite fiber was obtained. The composite fiber had strength 3. 74 cNPdtex , modulus 44. 60 cNPdtex , elongation 31. 30 % and crystallinity 60. 79 %. The value of stick point in water was 105 ℃, and the moisture regain was 8. 9 %. According to SEM photographs , cross2 section of the composite fiber had a few of holes and cracks , these defects diminished with increasing the sold content of the spinning solution.
