Abstract: Although high performance fibers possess higher thermal resistant properties, they show poor photostability. In this paper, a new method of sol-gel treatment was used to enhance the light-resistant properties of high performance aramid fabric. The size and distribution of TiO2 hydrosol was very uniform by using Zetasizer Nanosizer. The fabric treated with TiO2 hydrosol was characterized by U-4100 UV-visible-near infrared spectrometer and compared with its counterpart, the results showed that the light property (transmission, absorbance and reflection) of fabric treated with TiO2 hydrosol was improved. Its SEM micrographs showed the continued film on the surface of the treated fabric, which has good blocking effect to the ultraviolet ray.
