Abstract: Beginning from the analysis of the constitutional elements of clothing space form and comparison of the western and Chinese garment in terms of clothing space, the related questions of the clothing form in the spatial relations is elaborated, including the clothing’s shapes and types, essential factors, both interior and exterior. This paper verifies that the different understanding ways of the clothing space form and the different esthetic ideas of the clothing cause the modelling differences with respect to the same primary clothing . Regardless of the oriental plane formation or the western three-dimensional formation, the clothing forms in different times, different regions and different cultures are created by different spatial formation ways. Discriminating the clothing space shape and its formation way provides a realistic way for enriching creative thoughts for the innovative design of modern clothing.
