Structural characteristics of the Solospun yarn

Abstract: The structure of Solospun yarn was discussed in respect to its longitudinal and un-twisted appearance characteristics and cross-sectional morphology.Compared with the conventional ring-spun yarn,the Solospun yarn has less and shorter hairiness,more compact inter-fiber entanglement,smoother surface and higher probability of fiber′s contact(PFC).This corresponds with its high break strength and abrasion resistance.However,it has bigger coefficient of variation values in breaking strength and elongation percentage.This is probably the cause of unevenness,more nubs and nips in the Solospun yarn.
