Abstract:

The physical and machanical properties of polyblend fibers from liquid crystal polymers and polypropylene prepared under different conditions were described. Results show that since liquid crystal polymers can form fibers with a high strength and initial modulus, the polyblend fibers have a higher initial modulus than the polypropylene fibers.Due to the breakage of the LCP micro-fibrils,the strength of the drawn PP/LCP fibers is lower than that of the pure PP fibers.By using two-stage drawing, the physical and tensile properties of the PP/LCP polyblend fibers can be greatly improved.Experimental results show that the PP/LCP polyblend fibers have a much better thermal stability than the PP fibers.
