Abstract: The capsulated super-fine disperse dye was prepared by phase separation technique with styrene maleic copolymer. The effects of glycerin and Tween 80 content on colloidal properties of super-fine disperse dye were investigated, and then discussing the effect factors of droplets formation process based on suitable viscosity, surface tension and certain stability. The FTIR and TEM results showed that capsulated super-fine disperse dye was prepared successfully. Capsulated super-fine disperse dye and glycerin could improve viscosity and Tween 80 could greatly affect surface tension. Besides, they could affect storage stability of the dispersion. Either viscosity increasing or surface tension reducing made the droplets break easily. In addition, decreasing surface tension could lead to droplet’s maximum volume smaller. Viscosity might be the main factor of “satellite droplet” why formed. Especially, when viscosity was lower the “satellite droplet” was more obvious, coinciding with the lord droplets more difficultly.
