Abstract: In order to understand the dyeing properties of grafted silk with methacrylamide. The authors analyzed the structure of both the grafted and non-grafted silk by means of the three methods such as TG/DTA, FT-IR spectroscopy and X-ray diffraction. On these bases, their dyeing properties of reactive dyes including mainly the dyeing fixation rate curve and build up property was investigated in detail, and compared with each other. The results indicated that the graft treatment remained the crystalline and molecular structure of silk fibroin unchanged, but the crystallinity of fiber, adsorption and the build up property of reactive dyes was also reduced after weighting.
