Abstract:

Butanol polyther used as high-speed spinning finishes, generates organic peroxy compounds because of its main chain being oxidized, which will influence its structure and high-speed spinning finishes’ performances. The effect of alkaline, oxygen and high temperature on the main chain’s stability of butanol polyether was studied under production, storage and application conditions. The results demonstrated that alkaline favors the stability of butanol polyether. The peroxide value of butanol polyether increased to 189.7~ 226.6ppm under oxygen, while the peroxide value of butanol polyether increased marginally and the peroxide value is maintained at about 30ppm under nitrogen, which indicates that oxygen has a significant effect on its stability. Additionally, the polyether appeared to be more unstable under high temperatures, the peroxide value rose to 115.9~144.9ppm at the temperature of 210~230℃.
