Bending load characteristic of carbon nano wires embedded into three-dimensional braided composite

Abstract:

In order to achieve load monitoring of three-dimensional braided composites in real time, the strain characteristics of carbon nanot wires embedded into three-dimensional braided composites for three point bend test under different loads. The paper focuses on the analysis of resistance change of carbon nanotube thread for composites loading in tensile and compressive. Experimental results show that in the three point bending process, the relation of strain of specimen and change resistance of carbon nanotube thread is monotonic consistency loading to the fracture and resistance variation of carbon nanotube thread accord with exponential form. The hysteresis resistance of carbon nanotube thread is produced after the big load loading. The residual resistance of carbon nanotube thread is produced after unloading. The studies have shown that structure health status of three-dimensional braided composites may be sensed and monitored in real-time using carbon nanotube thread sensor l under bending. It will lay foundation for construction of structural health monitoring system for three-dimensional braided composite.
