Abstract:

In order to study the structure and properties of willow fibers, willow barks were degumming by sodium hydroxide boiling, and the obtained fibers were characterized by scanning electron microscopy, infrared spectroscopy, X ray diffraction, thermal analysis. The results show that the main composition of the willow biomass fibers is cellulose. The willow biomass fibers have smooth surface and vertical stripes. Cross section of the fibers with cavity is elliptical and irregular. The results of FTIR and XRD show that most of the none cellulose components are removed, crystal structure of the willow biomass fibers is cellulose I, the fibers has good thermal stability. Fineness of the willow biomass fibers is 2.1 dtex. The fibers are good inthermal stability, and the thermal decomposition temperature can reach 360 °C. It is shown that the willow fibers are suitable for spinning.
