Abstract:

To study comfort and functionality of dress pocket, by changing the left and right position of pocket, human try on experiments were carried on. The relationship between comfort and the left and right position of dress pocket were obtained using the method of subjective evaluation, the best pocket position were got. On this basis, effects of the pocket type on each performance were explored. The results indicated that pockets’ comfort on position is affected by arm length, the most comfortable position is 0-2 cm forward from bust width line. The different type of pockets have a close relationship with comfort, functionality and decoration. In patch pockets, gathering patch pocket is the optimum in comfort and functionality, and flat patch pocket is the optimum in decorative effect. In insert pockets, single piping pocket is the most comfortable, double piping pocket is the most functional, and bias insert pocket is the strongest decoration. In side pockets, the pocket with a flap has more comfortness and adornment than no flap.
