To provide a reference for conducting fiber manufacturers, the paper investigated the properties such as melting point, melting index and intrinsic viscosity of PET and carbon black/polyester (CB/PET) conducting master-batch with different mass fraction, analyzed the compound spinning process of conductive fiber, prepared a permanent conductive fiber with cross-section of three points exposed externally, and tested the properties of this conductive fiber. The results showed that with the CB mass fraction increasing, the melt flowing property of CB/PET conducting master-batch deteriorates. During compound spinning, with the increasing of CB mass fraction in CB/PET conducting master-batch, the spinning temperature and pressure should be increased accordingly. The conductivity of the fiber increased with increasing of CB mass fraction in CB/PET master-batch. The conductivity of the fiber declined with the drawing ratio increasing, and the optimum drawing ratio of conductive fiber is 1.5.

Polyamide 6 (PA6) nanoscale fibers were prepared from 22% PA6 / formic acid solution by electrospinning. Three kinds of common nonwoven fibrous filters were used as collecting substrates during the electrospinning, so that the PA6 nanoscale fiber layer and the substrate were made into composite mats. The pore structure of the nanoscale fiber composite mats was investigated, and the relationships between the nanoscale fiber solidity, substrate and porous characteristic of the PA6 composite mats were analyzed. The air permeation rate, filtration efficiency and filtration resistance of the compsite mats were tested. The results reveal that with the nanoscale fiber solidity increasing, the number of pores in the composite mat increases exponentially, but the average pore area, porosity and air permeation rate exponentially decreases. The air permeation rate shows good linear relation with the porosity. The filtration efficiency of nonwoven fibrous filter is obviously improved due to the nanoscale fiber layers in a composite mat.

A theoretical formula of power compensation DSC curve was derived from the law of energy conservation and heat transfer. The DSC melting curve of pure indium was studied as an example. It was illustrated that the heating trace of pure indium consists of three parts, which include 〝before melting〞, 〝melting〞 and 〝after melting〞process corresponding to the three components of DSC theoretical formula, respectively. DSC curve analysis disclosed that melting temperature corresponds to the onset temperature of 〝melting〞curve. 〝After melting〞 curve decays exponentially. The larger the value of thermal time constant is, the longer the time of 〝after melting〞 curve experiences. Melting enthalpy equals to the area above base line and beneath 〝melting〞 and 〝after melting〞curve. The theoretical basis for thermal resistance (R) measurement and the effect of R on the DSC curve shape were illustrated. A simulated DSC curve of a multi-component system was produced to explain the origin of the characteristics of DSC melting curve of polymers.

The self-made fiber compression device was designed to investigate effects of compression and rebound process and electrode location on electrical resistance measurement of cotton fiber assembly. It is intended to make reference for improving the accuracy and reproducibility of the measurement of moisture regain and electrical resistance of cotton fibers. The experimental results revealed that electrical resistance of cotton fiber assembly is approximately inverse proportion to the volume density of the fiber assembly. At higher density of fiber assembly, density of fiber assembly can be obtained by compression and rebound. At the same density of fiber assembly, volume resistivity in compression process is less than that in rebound process. There is difference between volume resistivity of cotton fiber assembly in compression direction and in the direction vertical to compression direction. With the increase of density, the difference between them increases to some extent. At applied voltage of 10 V, volume resistivity of cotton fiber assembly in compression direction is larger than that in the direction vertical to compression direction. Higher density of fiber assembly is in favor of resistance testing for cotton fiber assembly, Stable and accurate results can only be obtained in compression process.

To study the effect of blend ratio on the quality of yarn especially its tensile performance, a series of cotton/colored cotton/ spun silk blend yarns in different blend ratio were spun by three fiber materials, naturally brown colored cotton, white cotton and spun silk fiber based on technological study of spinning processing. Properties of blend yarns with different blend ratio were tested. The results indicated that with the spun silk content increasing, the tensile strength and elongation at break of yarn were significantly increased, and yarn physical performances such as yarn unevenness, thin and thick were improved significantly, while neps and hairiness of the yarn had no significant impact. The addition of spun silk can generally improve the performance of naturally colored cotton blend yarns.

In order to recognize regular slub yarn’s apparent parameters, slub yarn which was uniformly wound on black board was scanned and the grayscale and binary image of it was obtained. The digital image processing technology was used to rotate image and connect yarn on both sides in order to composite a continuous slub yarn image. Taking advantage of the correlation of periodic functions based on reading diameters of slub yarn, apparent parameter change period of slub yarn was determined. Based on analysis of the frequency of slub yarn’s diameter in several change periods, the diameters of the basic part and the slub part of the yarn were determined. By further analyzing the length of sections of certain amount of slub yarns appeared periodically, demarcation positions between basic part and slub part were found, thus the length of each basic part and each slub part was obtained and complete slub yarn’s apparent parameters were given.

To accurately describe the geometric size of fibers in blended yarns, blending ratio, and spatial distribution and analyze the relationship between physical properties of blended yarns and these parameters, a new method is presented in this article. Take wool/viscose blended yarn as an example, the software ImageJ was used to analyzes the slice image of blended yarn cross-section, including quantitative description of the structural parameters such as blending ratio, relative radius of fiber distribution, fiber content distribution uniformity. On this basis, the relationship between structural parameters and the quality of the blended yarn is analyzed briefly, and the values obtained match with practical results. This provides important guidelines for quality control of blended yarn in practice.

The shape of jean will be changed due to long time use. The factors that affect the shape distortion of the jeans during wear include extra force and environment. To improve the shape retention capability of jean fabrics, five kinds of jean fabrics were selected to study the relationship between specifications and shape retention of jean fabrics. The yarn count, warp and weft densities, and structure of jean fabrics show a certain degree of regularity. It is found by analyzing their relaxation curves that the yarn count and organizational structure of the denim fabric have great impact on shape retention, that is, when denim fabric specifications in other circumstances are the same, the finer the yarn, the better the performance of shape retention. As for structure, the shape retention of 3/1 is better than that of 2/1.

This paper describes the basic methods for testing the resistance 3-D braided composite materials. The SQUID technology based test method for electromagnetic parameters of 3-D braided composite material was studied in accordance with material properties. The change rules of resistance and electromagnetic property of the 3-D braided composite material under different loading conditions were examined. The experimental results show that the electrical characteristics of 3-D braided composite materials are affected by manufacturing parameters and way of loading. Resistance decreases with increasing of the thickness and fiber content and decreasing of surface braiding angle. The resistance shows linear increase within small tensile. When the tensile is more than 6%, the resistance shows non-linear increase. Three-point bending has great effect on resistance, the resistance and electromagnetic filed of the material under loading is bigger than that of unloading.

For the actual use of layer angle problems of the plain woven fabric laminated composite, a plain woven composite with 0º/45º/90º/-45º 4-layered laminates was prepared, and the dog-bone shaped specimen’s stretch under unidirectional tensile stress was investigated. During analysis, the specimen was perceived to be a macro-uniformed elastic material. Finite element model was established. The laminates were meshed by 8-node-solid elements. By step loading, the stress-strain relationship was obtained by numerical simulation, which is in good accordance with the test result. To predict the strength failure, the node reactions were selected as the boundary conditions of the cell sub-model. The results showed that the angle-layered laminates have less cracks and delimitations than the one-way layered. Moreover, under the same stress, the damaged resin elements are less, too. This will bring the angle-layered laminates with a higher strength.

The presence of some free surfactants in the adhesive prepares by traditional emulsion polymerization will affect the bonding force of the adhesive. To overcome this shortcoming, soap-free acrylate adhesive was synthesized with polymerizable surfactants of sodium monoalkylpolyoxyethylene maleates. The polymerization process of the soap-free adhesive emulsion was optimized, and the product was characterized by FT-IR, particle size analyzer, TEM and DSC. The results indicated that the resulting adhesive emulsion has uniform distribution of particle size, good electrolyte resistance, and enhanced water repellency of the emulsion film. The emulsion was applied to static flocking, and the relationship between technological factors and flocking fastness was studied. It showed that the soap-free adhesive had good bonding force and the flocking fabric with this adhesive emulsion had good rubbing fastness(over 2000 times), meeting the requirements of flocking fabric for garments.

The application of Lujin patterns in fashion design with several different design methods was attempted through analyzing the geometric check pattern of Lujin and extracting its essence. The practice has shown that the direct application method is easy to mastered and fully express the strong folk characteristic. However, the design betrays itself by the trace of “clip and paste”. The indirect application method is a more ideal one which can create new patterns out of the old, better express the principle of modern design, and better cater up the aesthetic demand of the fashion of customers.

Neckline, wristband and pantalets are key parts of 3-D garment models. The extraction and editing on these boundaries play an important role in the 3-D garment fitting design. The garment mesh model firstly is pretreated by removing isolated triangles and repairing the holes. After extracting border points, it uses the non-uniform cubic B-spline curve to interpolate them and calculates the length of each boundary. Finally, a parallel tangent plane based on border points is constructed to add new points and create the extended border surface by the triangulation process. This method can be applied for the local adjusting and editing of 3-D garment mesh models.

In order to better grasp the properties and application fields of basalt fibres, this paper makes a systematic summary on previous studies. It introduces its main chemical compositions and the development process, with focuses on the characteristics and applications. Basalt fibres is characterized by high tensile strength, high modulus, chemical resistance, and broad working temperature range. It is natural, environment friendly, and non-toxic material. Basalt fibres can be widely applied in such materials as composite, insulation and friction. Based on the analysis of earlier research, it puts forward the idea to further expand its application and predicts that as the 21st century new fibre, basalt fibre will play an important role in many fields.
