With the help of scanning electron microscope,the morphological structure of the down was observed.Its unique divaricate structure and superficial structure were studied and a detailed description and characterization of the down were given.The difference between goose down and duck down and the difference between wool and down were compared.Their difference in morphological structure as well as the resultant difference in property were elucidated.This study fills the vacancy left by domestic and oversea researchers in characterization of down morphological structure and lays a foundation for further research in this respect.

Polyvinyldene-fluoride(PVDF) hollow fiber membrane was treated by impregnating it in KMnO_4 solution which was selected as oxidizing agent.Treatment conditions were varied as a function of oxidant solution concentration,temperature and duration of treatment,and solution acidity and evaluation indexes such as flux,pressure of appearing bubbles,pressure of burst,tensile strength and breaking elongation were optimized.The results showed that for safe application,the concentration of KMnO_4 solution is(1 000 mg/L,) the temperature,(35 ℃,) and the appropriate hydrochloric acid concentration,(500 mg/L.)

The application of traditional kapok wadding is limited to a narrow scope due to its weakness of intensity,duration of compression and recovery,so a patented technology to improve its performance was developed.In this paper, we tested the compressibility of kapok wadding produced with traditional method and that by patented technology,and analyzed the differences between new types of kapok wadding mixed with different chemical fibers.The results indicated that the resilience of kapok wadding containing chemical fibers is obviously improved though its initial bulkiness is smaller than that of pure chemical wadding and pliability is not comparable to that of pure kapok wadding.

Slenderizing of wool by stretching is a novel technique,in its commercial application,however,there exist some problems such as the slenderizing effect can not live up to the expectation and the property of the slenderized wool is unstable.Therefore,we develop a laboratorial stretching apparatus on which simulation of commercial production of continuous stretching slenderizing of the 64s local wool was carried out.Then the physical properties such as the fineness,length,strength and elongation of the slenderized wool were tested and compared with those of Optim~D○R.The results showed that the average fineness of the slenderized wool fibers decreased by 16.1%,the length increased by 26.4%,and the tenacity of fiber increased by 23.49%.This demonstrates that this stretching slenderizing process is satisfactory.In addition,the elongation rate at break of the slenderized wool is lowered remarkably,and its elasticity is also decreased.

In order to improve the moisture permeability of polyurethane(PU) film and its serviceability,PU film manufactured by wet film forming process was modified by wool powder which was made through chemical and mechanical methods by researchers themselves.It was observed by microscopy that the particle size of the wool powder was not uniform with average size of 5.46 μm.The moisture permeability of the PU film modified by wool powder was improved evidently and enhanced with the increase of wool powder and time.The film thickness and wool powder dosage also affected the moisture permeability rate of the PU film.It exhibited a spatial relation between wool powder quantity,film thickness and moisture permeability.

Considering the problems associated with the traditional sample spinning frame,a CAD & CAM system for the sample spinning is developed through integrating technologies of information management,autocontrol,servo driving and variable speed control with frequency conversion.The CAD system,including design module of yarn structural parameters,spinning technique design module and report forms printing module,can design yarn structural parameters for both normal yarn and slubby yarn,spinning process and various parameters in every process.The CAM system,including carding frame,drawing frame and spinning frame,adopts digital control system based on PLC and multiple motors with individual driving technology.All the three machines are connected with host computer by RS485 communication bus,and each machine can run in either online or offline states.

The first nozzle structural parameters of air-jet spinning machine mainly include jet orifice obliquity,nozzle inside diameter,jet orifice number.In order to explain the effect of these structural parameters on yarn strength,experiments and regression analysis are undertaken to investigate the effect of the first nozzle structural parameters on air-jet spun yarn strength.The conclusion is drawn that the first nozzle structural parameters have great impact on the yarn strength.And when jet orifice obliquity is(42.9°,) nozzle inside diameter is(0.4 mm,) jet orifice number is 4,the strength of air-jet spun yarn is the highest.

The dissolving of the water-soluble polyvinyl alcohol(PVA) fiber in the ply yarn is the key process of fabric manufacturing with untwisted yarns.Control of dissolving time has been a long-standing problem in the product development associated with PVA blends.To control the optimal time,two methods were designed,i.e.,yarn strength testing method and weight method.The results of the two methods showed coincidently that the PVA of the ply yarn could be dissolved probably in 30 minutes.And this conclusion provides a reliable parameter for industrialized production.

According to the mutation of fabric resistance when it is wet,we have made an apparatus for testing the anistropic wetting property of the fabric using a metal probe as sensor.This apparatus can simultaneously determine the moisturizing of water along warp,weft and 45° directions of the fabric.The test results reveal that apart from the fabric varieties and weaves,the diffusing rate of water is related to fabric thickness,and the direction of diffusing.There exists a linear relationship between the square of diffusion displacement and the time of diffusion.

After analyzing the mechanism of pilling of soybean protein fiber fabric and the factors affecting it,a new method for improving the pilling tendency is put forward,which involves blending the low melting point fiber with soybean protein fiber at different proportions and heat treatment of the blended fabric.After treatment,the pilling property and hand feeling of the blended fabric are tested.The experiment results show that when the content of low melting point fiber is 10% and heat treating is performed at(112 ℃) for 5 minutes,the blended fabric has the best pilling resistant property with little influence on fabric handle.

Besides the material of the knitted fabric,the structure and some fabric physical indexes such as stitch density and weight per unit area play important roles in the influence on the liquid moisture transmitting.Kinds of two-faced comfort functional mesh knitted fabrics are designed and knitted using cotton and novel groove type synthetic fiber.The liquid moisture transmitting properties are measured by new type apparatus MMT.Based on the test results,we obtain the curve of water contents on the surfaces of fabric face and back varying as a function of time,as well as the indexes of moisture transmitting rate and the difference of water contents.The paper analyzes the effect of different fabric structure and physical parameters on the liquid moisture transmitting properties of the fabric.It is found that the two-faced mesh knitted fabrics have good capability of transporting the liquid moisture,especially the fabric with well-proportioned mesh distribution and befitting stitch density.

The characteristics of multibar raschel lace were studied in this article,and the spline function was suggested to simulate the loop structure and determine the number and position of control points necessary for forming a loop by a guide bar through weft insertion and fall-plate.And the theoretical model for each type of loop was set up.For solving the problem of distortion of the loop caused by yarn tension,the offset theory and calculation formula were given.This theory assumed that the root of loop was the centre of yarn tension.Applying this model and theory,using(VC++).net to program,the quick,visual and accurate simulation of raschel lace was realized.

The methodology of add or cut yarns during 3-D braiding courses were analyzed from a viewpoint of unit cell.The process,applicability,advantages and disadvantages of both the unit number reduction and unit size reduction methods were discussed.The apparent structure of the preform was observed by digital photograph,and the yarn tracks of cutting point in surface or inner control unit before and after cutting were obtained by topological analysis.Geometrical models of yarn interlace were built.The research shows that 3-D braided preforms made by these two cutting technologies have no such defect as holes.Yarn incline direction has not changed,and the incline angle changes a little.Therefore,there exists no obvious stress concentration in the whole structure.These methods are suitable,individually or in combination,for braiding section-changed composite products.

The effect of diagonal arrangement of yarns on the structure of the five-axial three-dimensional((3-D)) woven fabric and the density of yarns in Z direction were analyzed,and two kinds of five-axial 3_D fabric structure were obtained. One was in loose structure with low density of the yarns in Z direction and the other was in compact structure having high density of the yarns in Z direction.Based on the compact five-axial(3-D) fabric,this paper constructed the unit_cell model for the five-axial 3_D fabric.Using analytic geometrical method, the cross-section of the yarns in Z direction was calculated.According to the relationships between W_β/W_X,W_β/W_Y with cos β,sin β,it was found that the cross-section shapes of the yarns in Z direction can be octagon,hexagon or quadrilateral.

Permutation analysis is proposed to describe the braiding process of 3-D preform with rectangle cross-sections.One example of the application of the proposed method is presented firstly.When a braiding cycle is expressed as a product of disjoint permutation,the relationship between the disjoint permutations and the movement of bobbins is developed.The process of 3-D preform braiding with □-shape cross-section is analyzed as another example to describe the application of the proposed method to braid profiled preforms.Based on the expression of the product of disjoint permutation,the types of braiding bobbins can be discriminated and their initial positions be determined,apart from the deduction of the relationship between the disjoint permutation and the movement of bobbins, thus laying a foundation for braiding a profiled preform.

The typical 3-D integrated and sandwiched fabrics including X,V and honeycomb types in warp wise are designed and manufactured with glass fibers on the common 2-D loom,and reinforced composites are made of the fabrics by means of the technology of vacuum assisted resin infusion.For better penetration of resin into the fiber and fabric,the components,ratio and viscosity of the resin liquid are studied.The resin liquid flowing in the 3-D sandwiched fabric and the cause of bubble forming are discussed.The manufacturing method used in this research can effectively exclude the air trapped in the voids between fibers or inside the fibers of the reinforced composites.The results show that the reinforced composites have retained the original structure,shape,and physical properties of the sandwiched fabrics.

According to the physical properties required for soilless-culture substrates,this paper produces 17 types of nonwoven substrates with noil in cotton mill using needle punching based on experimental scheme of(Design-)Expert software.By means of response surface methodology(RSM),a mathematical model for comprehensive evaluation of the needling process parameters,main physical properties of the substrate and the lawn is developed.Fitting degree is examined and the needling process is optimized.This study reveals that waste cotton can be used as the material of nonwoven substrate for soilless culture.This nonwoven substrate facilitates water absorption and draining,aeration,plant roots penetrating and extending,and the structural stabilization.

was dispersed through adding dispersants and ultrasonic treatment.The dispersion state was indicated through testing the transmittance and zeta potential of the dispersion and particle size of nano-sized CaCO

.By comparing the dispersion states when sodium hexametaphosphate(SHMP),sodium polyphosphate(SPP),sodium dodecylbenzenesulfate(SDBS) were used as dispersants respectively,SDBS was proved to be the best for dispersion of nano-sized CaCO
3
in water.The influence of the amount of dispersant,pH value and the time of ultrasonic treatment on the dispersion state was discussed.The optimum dispersion state might be achieved when the amount of SDBS was 0.14% with pH=8.5 and ultrasonic treatment for 5 minutes.

For further exploiting the application area of phase change material (PCM) and increasing it added-value,the research on the composite and thermal properties of two kinds of phase change materials was undertaken to develop an advanced intelligent textiles with temperature conditioning function.By comparing academic calculation with practical measurement,the optimum composite proportion of the materials was selected.And then the composite phase change material was applied onto the fabric by coating with the purpose of manufacturing the temperature conditioning textiles.The influence of the coating weight,curing and baking temperature,and washing on the temperature conditioning property of the fabric was discussed,and the thermal property of the treated fabric was also tested.The results demonstrated that the fabric coated by composite phase change material had appropriate phase change temperature,higher enthalpy,and good temperature conditioning function.

In order to get aware of the influence of dyeing process on the dyeing property of linen fabrics,dyeing experiments of linen fabrics were performed with reactive dyes using four dyeing methods,i.e.,exhaust,paddrycure,paddrypadsteam,and cold pad-batch,and their influence on build-up,(K/S) value,penetrating property and color fastness were investigated.Among the three padding techniques,the K/S value of the fabric dyed using paddrypadsteam technique was the highest,while the K/S value of the fabric dyed using paddrycure was the lowest.In addition,ring dyed phenomena was obvious with the linen fabric dyed by paddrycure.The other three dyeing techniques impart the fabric good penetrating property.In the case of dyeing technique,it made little difference in color fastness of linen fabrics.

In order to find a good recipe to reproduce a target color for pre-dyed fibers,three primary samples,red,yellow and blue viscose,were used to prepare 36 fibre blends.A spectrophotometric color matching algorithm based on Stearns-Noechel model is used to predict recipes for 36 viscose blends.The results indicate that the maximum color difference is 1.03 CIELAB units,and the minimum,0.10 CIELAB units.This demonstrates that the algorithm is suitable for color matching of fiber blends.

Aiming at the computer-aided color matching in dyeing and printing enterprises,a color-calibrated digital method using color measurement instrument has been developed,realizing remote transmission of color.This method uses Pantone color cards as criterion to calibrate the different results of color measured by enterprise and customer whose instruments may be different and different results may be obtained to a same color sample.Color-calibrated digital data of the customer can be transmitted to the enterprise so that the(computer?-aid) color matching of the enterprise can be performed accurately and conveniently and color consistency between customer and enterprise is effected.It is proved by practice that this remote color-calibration method can help dyeing and printing enterprises improve their color transmitting way,and raise production efficiency and economic result.

The water-repellent treatment of spunlaced Terylene nonwoven fabric was performed with fluorine_contained waterproof agent DF-3000,and the influence of the agent concentration,curing temperature and time on the result was investigated. The finishing process was optimized and the method for balancing color fastness and water repellency was developed.The results showed that when DF-3000 concentration is(8 g/L,) curing at 170~(175 ℃)×(1 min,)the water_repellent rating of the treated nonwoven fabric is 5 and its hydrostatic pressure property test result is above(16 cm).Also we find that adding polyvinyl alcohol(PVA) into the water_repellent agent can assure both the water_repellent property and color fastness of the treated fabric.

A novel perspiration imitation thermal manikin is developed to measure the thermal resistance and moisture vapor resistance of fabrics.The traditional guarded hot plate apparatus can be used to measure the thermal conductivity of various textiles.Measurement of thermal resistance of a series of shirts and the related fabrics are carried out with the above two apparatus.The data shows that these two apparatus all have high accuracy and reproducibility.However,the thermal resistance of fabrics with air layer measured by the guarded hot plate apparatus is less than that by the thermal manikin.

This research made a non-contact anthropometric measurement of 200 male university students through the advanced three-dimension body scanner.8 relevant measurements to the neck were drawn considering the necessary measurements in pattern design of fashion collars,and corresponding categorized indexes were prescribed.SPSS software was utilized to carry out cluster analysis of the measurement data according to the preset categorized indexes,thus subdividing the young men′s necks into 7 types.The intermediate values of every neck type and grading number values of every measurement were calculated.So series of size specifications fit for each type of young men′s neck accordingly were worked out, which will provide more reference for the structure design of men′s fashion collars and for preparing garment size specifications and the production of ready-to-wear.

A structural model of the yarn passing way during winding and waxing attachment was developed and the mechanics and data analysis were used to explain the model.Based on waxing experiments on winding frame model M1332,the optimum parameters of the structure of waxing attachment and wax components were got. It has provided a basis for spinning mills to select a waxing attachment with the best ratio of performance to price in both theoretical and practical aspects.

The traditional weft detector is unable to make a comprehensive analysis of the large amount of measured data due to the limited function of its microprocessor.For this reason,based on the virtual instrument technology introduced by the American National Instrument Co.,an innovative weft detector is developed in which a computer is used in substitution for the microprocessor and the bias weft data was collected by a data collecting module.Therefore,this detector can simultaneously implement the tasks of collecting,analyzing,and processing bias filling data.This facilitates the further research of the rule of skewing.Experiments have proved that on-time detection and data analysis of bias weft and bias bend of fabrics are accomplished by this weft detector,and the rule of skewing can be summarized.

Traditional synchronous control systems in multi-drive dyeing and printing machines have too many drawing frames,which leads to frequent malfunction,effort-taking operation and painstaking maintenance.The article probes into principles for a solution to these problems and presents a design for a multi-drive synchronization speed control system with no or fewer drawing frames and tension sensors.The system is based on frequency conversion and computer network technologies.Its digital control over multi-drive speed regulation simplifies the synchronization system and provides higher reliability and stability.In the actual design of such a system,the IPC controls the frequency inverter via RS-485 bus in replace of the traditional DC speed-control system with multi-drive control system.The smooth operation proves that this system is successful and effective.

This paper discusses the principle of the torque ripple of BLDCM with focuses on the theoretical analysis of the relationships between torque ripple and parameters of windings,motor speed and bus voltage,as well as 3-phase reverse electrodynamic potential during phase converting.Then,a BLDCM drive system used in industrial sewing machine is studied and stop precision of the system is analyzed in detail.Furthermore,a novel predictive current control method of BLDCM is introduced in this paper to minimize torque ripple of the system,which combines the traditional overlap method with the periodicity sampling current control method.The experimental results are presented in the end,which indicate that the better performance of phase current control is obtained during commutation.

In order to determine the amount and speed of silver ion release from different silver-contained wound dressings,this paper analyzed the silver release properties of several silver-contained dressings.Three antimicrobial test methods were described and the antimicrobial performances of various silver products were summarized.Results showed that different types of wounds require different amounts of silver ions.Burn wounds are easy to be infected,so they require a large amount of silver from the dressing in order to maintain a higher silver concentration on the wound.With highly absorbent wound dressings,bacteria and exudates are absorbed into the dressing at the same time,thus only a small amount of silver released from the dressing would be effective in achieving antimicrobial effect.
