The rheological behavior of dyeable polyester melt was studied with the capillary rheometer, and compared with the rheological behabior (PET) melt. The results show that dyeable polyester melt is the typical pseudo plastic and non-Newton fluid. When the temperature increases, the apparent viscosity and structural viscosity index of dyeable polyester melt decline and the non-Newton index increases. With the increase of shear rate, the visco-flow activation energy of dyeable polyester melt declines, in other words, the temperature sensitixity of apparent viscosity declines with the shear rate increasing. Compared with PET, the apparent viscosity of dyeable polyester melt is more sensitive to temperature and shear rate, and the degree of strure is higher.

The melt blowing technology for micro-fiber manufacture was researched by numerical and experimental methods. According to Shambaugh one dimensional melt-blowing model, the relation between the fiber diameter and the processing parameters such as air velocity, polymer flow rate and diameter of the orifice were obtained by numerical methods. The order of the effect degree of three processing parameters on the diameter of final fiber was as follows: the polymer flow rate was the first, the air velocity was the second and the diameter of orifice was the last. At the same time, the conclusion that the diameter of the orifice should not too  big was also drawn according to the melt blowing practice. Then, the melt blowing experiment was designed and carried out and the nano-fiber was obtained. It was certified that the relation between three processing parameters and the fiber diameter and the order of the effect degree were correct. The manufacturing technology of micro-fiber was also testified to be valid.

In the spinning progress of core-spun yarn, it often occurs that the cotton staple fibers can’t cover the core filaments evenly and completely. Applying complete condensed spinning and Siro-spinning to core spun yarn spinning and setting proper process parameters can improve the covering effect significantly. This paper takes cotton spandex core spun yarn for example, 29.2tex/44.4dtex and 14.6tex/44.4dtex cotton spandex core-spun yarn are spun on the QFA1528 ring spinning machine respectively, in which the complete condensing spinning system were equipped. Four spinning parameters including Godet wheel position, strand spacing, yarn twist factor and pre-draft multiple of spandex filament were selected as the optimum parameters. Then, the covering effects were compared and affecting factors were analyzed. The results indicate that staple fibers can cover the core filaments evenly when the selected parameters were set in a reasonable range. The godet wheel position can affect the core filament position in core-spun yarn, while the other parameters have little influence on the covering effect.

Based on the structure analysis of woven fabric composed of metal fiber, our study showed that metal fiber yarn forms an effective electromagnetic shielding structure; the bare copper wires which simulated mental fiber of fabric formed the effective structural model s. The arrangement, arrangement spacing and connected manner between the bare copper wires of the samples were different. The shielding effectiveness of these samples is 1 ~ 18 GHZ by the shielding chamber method. The studies have shown that arrangement spacing of the metal fiber is the key factors affecting shielding effectiveness; the shielding effectiveness of the sample with unidirectional arrangement of metal fiber is the same as that with the bidirectional arrangement, but the shielding effectiveness of the sample with unidirectional arrangement metal fiber has significant direction; with bidirectional grid, the grid size of the sample affects its shielding effectiveness; under laboratory conditions, if the junction of the mental fiber is connectivity, the shielding effectiveness will be change.

In order to analysis the texture information of woven fabric, the woven fabric image was converted from the spatial domain to the frequency domain using the Fourier transform. The spectrum of the woven fabric was obtained by using the Fourier Transform method. The appropriate threshold was selected from the threshold segmentation curve to segment the spectrum and the feature points containing the fabric texture were found by the maximum of neighborhood method. Based on the relationship between the feature points and the real frequency, the frequency range of woven fabric texture was obtained. The experiment result shows that the frequency of fabric texture increase with the increase of density and the frequency range of twill and satin is lager than the plain weave and the frequency of common woven fabric texture is low and medium.

To understand the influence of alkali deweighting treatment of polyester to its hydrophobic treatment including hydrophobicity, wrinkle resistance, breaking strength, and whiteness, polyester fabric was alkali deweighted first and then had polyacrylic acid, tetraethylorthosilicate, and octadecylamine hydrophobic treatment. It was found that fabric was treated in 5% NaOH solution at 90 °C for 10 minutes could have good wetting ability. Alkali deweighting treatment could reduce fabric weight, form pits on fiber surface, increase the space at interlacing point of fabric, and provide more reactive sits for the following polyacrylic acid treatment. It was found that with and without alkali deweighting pretreating, polyacrylic acid-tetraethylorthosilicate-octadecylamine treated polyester fabrics showed different physical properties. The fabric with alkali deweighting pretreatment had higher static water contact angle and water would not soak fabric, bigger breaking strength, and larger wrinkle recovery angle than the one without alkali deweighting pretreatment. The whiteness of both has almost no change.

Thermal protective clothing may block the heat source and slower the heat transfer process. Proper test methods contribute to the quality control process and help consumer make right decision for the product. From both material and clothing two perspective, a review is made about the test and evaluation method for thermal protective materials and clothing. Future trends are predicted based on the state of the art. In the future, more attention should be drawn to the heat exposure condition faced by the users, especially for the lower radiant heat exposure. Advanced technologies in the medical and thermal physical fields should be adopted to make accurate and reasonable prediction of the potential skin burn injury. Proper index should be established for the thermal protective clothing performance.
