The mechanical properties of UHMWPE (Ultra-High-Molecular-Weight-Polyethylene) fiber when subjected to heating at different temperatures in a given time (5 seconds) were discussed. The results showed that with the increase of temperature, the strength, breaking elongation, modulus and work of rupture of the fiber are all decreased to a certain extent. Especially the strength and work of rupture decreased sharply, but the breaking elongation only changed slightly. The optical microscope of QUESTER showed that the longitudinal fracture morphology of the fiber when treated at different temperatures were different. With the increasing of temperature, the microfibril which had caused by the weak force of macromolecule remained no more, but the fine cervical and microporous part appeared. This demestrated that the UHMWPE fiber is poor in heat resistance. The higher the temperature, the easier the fiber breaks.

PET fibers with nano-mineral particles were prepared by mixing nano-mineral particles with PET pellets and subsequent alkali weight reduction. SEM observation for the surface and cross section of the fibers showed that the mineral particles with a small size dispersed from the surface to the inner of the fibers, which had apparent microcellular structure. With the addition of nano-mineral particles, there was no change for the crystalline allomorphs of the PET fibers, but its crystallite size increased, moreover crystallinity and degree of orientation decreased. Compared with common PET fibers, the breaking strength of PET fibers with nano-mineral particles decreased, but its breaking elongation and work of rupture increased, especially its capability of transmitting moisture improved markedly whereas mass specific resistance reduced evidently.

The forming of yarn is characterized by the changes of the space arrangement orderliness of the short fibers or the filaments, so there exists the entropy change phenomenon. The entropy spinning theory would discuss the direction and the limitation of spinning. According to the different entropy changing directions the whole spinning system could be divided into two parts: the entropy producing system and the entropy reducing system, and consequently an entropy change modal could be built up, this supposes a possibility to quantify the relationship between the entropy change and the statement change of fibers’ arrangement in the system. Many experiments indicated that the entropy change, which is the basic reason for the 3-dimensional geometry structure and properties changes of the yarn during spinning, has an internal link with the resultant yarn’s quality. So the researching work on the spinning entropy change theory is of vital importance for the yarn’s quality control and the yarn’s properties design, as well as for developing new spinning methods

For discovering the relationship between structure and tensile properties of rotor-spun composite yarns, the yarn structure and tensile characteristics were investigated by theoretical and experimental methods, and the morphology of yarn breakage ends were observed by the Questar Hi-scope video microscope system. The results indicate that the structure of composite yarns depends on the difference between the filament tension and the tension of staple fiber strand. By controlling the filament over-feed ratio, different kinds of composite yarns can be produced under the constant conditions of normal rotor spinning. The tensile process and breakage ends morphology of composite yarns are related to the yarn structure. Compared with the normal rotor-spun yarn, the tensile properties of composite yarns are improved.

In order to evaluate more objectively the performance of knitting yarns, a method using modified fuzzy kernel C-Means (FKCM) clustering algorithm for processing and analyzing of knitting yarns is proposed, in which, the data of low dimension input space is mapped to high dimension feature space, FCM clustering algorithm is performed in the feature space, then the Kernel F clustering validity index is designed for seeking the fitness clustering number, and the corresponding relationship model of class sequence numbers and quality grades is constructed. By analyzing the IRIS Dataset, the result shows the modified FKCM has obtained better classification effect. When it is applied to measuring dataset, and KF index indicates it is reasonable to classify the samples into two kinds. According to the constructed relation of classes and quality grades, the quality grade of each class is acquired. The combination of modified FKCM and KF index provides an efficient data analysis method for multi-index dataset.

To study the unevenness on the surface of PTT/PET plain knitted fabric, seamless knitted fabrics with PTT/PET were woven on trial basis. The “random strip unevenness” which couldn’t be eliminated by technical adjustments on the surface of PTT/PET plain fabrics was analyzed by studying the original configuration of PTT/PET and the configuration of PTT/PET after simulated finishing process. It was found that the three-dimensional endless spiral crimps of PTT/PET is the cause of “random strip unevenness”. Based on this, a new kind of PTT/PET filaments was made by improving the spinning process. The “random strip unevenness” was disappeared on the surface of knitted fabric made of the new PTT/PET filaments, and it appears uniform and aesthetic.

In order to shorten the design of leno weave, this paper put forward a mathematic model for leno weaves. By analyzing the principle of leno weave, the threading chart can be divided into five sectors, weave diagram, leno lifting plan, common lifting plan, leno chain draft, and common chain draft. Using the matrix principle, we can abstract the weave matrix from the leno weave. According to the relationship of five sectors, we can put forward a mathematical model for leno weave. Finally we use the VB.net project system to prove the exactitude of the mathematical model. The mathematical model will be a basic theory for the CAD system of leno weave.

For reasons that it is difficult to develop a non-linear model for the evaluation of the fabric drap and the conventional evaluation method can not achieve the desired accuracy of it. The paper, in light of the features of fabric drape data, has proposed a Mercer kernel model for fabric drape assessment. It has proven by experiment and comparison that the precision of the fabric drape has increased by the new method and the assessment model based on Mercer kernel model is feasible. It also shows that different parameter values selected affect the assessment results.

Polyacrylonitrile (PAN) fiber was modified by hydrazine and hydroxylamine to enable ligation of ferric ions to the fiber surface so as to produce a Fe-modified PAN fibrous catalyst (PAN-Fe) for the oxidative degradation of two soluble anionic azo dyes in the presence of H2O2. The dosage of catalysts, ferric ion content loading on catalyst, dye concentration and pH values on the photocatalytic decoloration of two azo dyes in water were investigated in this paper. The results indicated that PAN-Fe catalyst has a significant catalytic property on oxidative degradation of two azo dyes, especially under light irradiation. Increasing the dosage of catalysts and enhancing ferric ion content lead to high decoloration level. Moreover, the decoloration of two azo dyes is developed in the presence of the catalysts under alkaline condition, but increasing concentration of dyes in solution causes the low decoloration percentage.

For this reason, this paper brings forward a method to reduce the error by fitting the cam profile and develop a reverse design of conjugated cams ‘ system based on Visual Basic (VB). This system takes the three transect interpolation function to smooth the main cam contour line, which can improve the continuity of the curvature, and make another cam’s contour line according to the relationship between the conjugated cams. And then Pro/E is used to make the entity structure of the conjugated cams and do the analyses of the kinematics. By the analysis of the law of the motional curves, the motional angle and laws are determined, and finally, the redesign of the conjugated cams is realized.

According to the framework of fashion design process based on concurrent design, fashion design process is divided into several levels, and an effective multi-layers fashion design process model is created. By combining computer programmed calculating method with practical case, the time consumption of the new model is found obviously decreased as compared with traditional model. The practical value of fashion design process model based on the integrated environment is proven by both theory and practice.

This paper presents a 3D clothing fitting via the feature matching. Firstly, the method fits each vertex and its local neighborhood of the clothing and human models by constructing the biquadratic Bezier surface. It can estimate the Gaussian curvature and the mean curvature of each vertex. Then, the feature points of two mesh models are extracted according to curvatures. In order to reduce the wrong matching and avoid the multiple matching relations, it uses the curvature constraint conditions or few interactive operations to obtain the correct corresponding feature points. The coordinate transformation matrix in 3D space is calculated to realize the rough match by the minimal distance function. Finally, the clothing model is scaled and matched again to achieve the accurate matching effect. The experimental results show that the 3D fitting algorithm is convenient and effective.

Body is the fundamentality of garment design, whose precondition is to understand the physical attractiveness. This paper focuses on the determinants of female physical attractiveness based on evolutionary psychology and the relationship between these determinants and physical attractiveness. Three determinants of female physical attractiveness are the waist to hip ratio (WHR), body mass index (BMI) and volume height index (VHI). The degree of physical attractiveness is expressed as attractiveness rating. There is a weak negative correlation between the attractiveness ratings and WHR. The optimal value of WHR for attractiveness is 0.7. The relationship between BMI or VHI and attractiveness ratings is nonlinear. VHI, which is a newest suggested determinant, has not been applied widely.
